RBS investment banking profits hampered by private equity

Income from Royal Bank of Scotland's corporate banking and financial markets division, which reported a 10% rise for the first half of this year, was constrained by a fall in private equity revenues.

RBS said that corporate banking fees and dealing profits rose, but the increase was &quotpartly offset by a reduced contribution from the private equity business&quot.
