Regulators file fraud charges against Putnam

Regulators investigating the mutual fund trading scandal have filed civil charges of fraud against Putnam Investments and two of its senior directors. The allegations come just a week after Putnam's Fund Trustee chairman said an internal probe had found no evidence of improper trading.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Bill Galvin, secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, together accused Putnam on several counts of illegal trading.
