Banks and fund managers have used an EU review into the effect of post-crisis reforms as a last-ditch attempt to lobby for changes to the revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive – which was on February 10 officially delayed by a year to 2018.

Mifid II will overhaul the way securities trade in Europe and includes controversial rules on the unbundling of research and trading payments.
