The Woolwich, a UK mortgage and savings firm owned by Barclays Bank, has opened the door for UK retail investors to invest in what claims to be the first hedge fund product that offers capital guarantees.

The Woolwich Protected FTSE Hedge Plan allows investors to put in as little as £3,000 (€4,400). The plan will invest in the FTSE hedge index launched in July.
