Retail veteran launches recovery fund

Alan Taylor, the former Argos and GUS Home Shopping director, has founded Active Retail Capital, a specialist turnaround fund of funds to target underperforming retail companies.

Taylor, who bought Homebase for Argos, has secured backing for his fund from Palladin Capital, the US private equity fund. Taylor worked for Palladin after leaving GUS Home Shopping, which he sold to the Barclay Brothers last year.
