Reuters appoints new chief executive

Reuters has appointed Tom Glocer to take over from chief executive Peter Job when he retires next July.

Glocer, 41, will be the first non-journalist and the first American to run Reuters since it began 150 years ago. He trained as a lawyer and worked in M&A before joining Reuters, where he heads up the information division, which produces more than half the group's revenues at £1.6bn (€2.6bn). He was appointed to the main board earlier this summer.
