Aberdeen Asset Management has hired Anne Richards to take over as the firm's chief investment officer following Katherine Garrett-Cox's decision to join Morley Fund Management.

Richards was previously Edinburgh Fund Managers' joint managing director. She joined the Scottish firm from Merrill Lynch Investment Management in April 2002, assuming the joint managing director position with Rod McRae when Iain Watt was forced to resign as chief executive last November.
