Former City minister John Glen — a key architect of the ‘Big Bang 2.0’ currently making its way through Parliament — has been promoted to a more influential role by new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Glen, who is close with Sunak, greeting him with a warm hug during victory celebrations outside 10 Downing Street on 24 October, was appointed chief secretary to the Treasury on 25 October and will attend cabinet.
