A talent war is under way. But rather than fighting off raids from other industries or rivals, banks are seeing top investment banking executives head to roles in their own risk management units.

Jobs in the control functions of major banks never used to be as sought after as those in front office positions. But that is beginning to change. Client-facing business lines must now compete with the increasingly lucrative risk management function as the popular career option for banking sector talent.
