RiskMetrics benefits from private equity boost

Spectrum Equity Investors, a US venture capital company, has lead a group of private equity investors in taking a $122m ($100.5m) stake in RiskMetrics Group, a financial risk management company.

The move sees Spectrum, General Atlantic Partners and Technology Crossover Ventures buying out RiskMetrics' seven institutional investors in an all equity deal. These included Reuters, Procter & Gamble, the US consumer and pharmaceuticals group, and RiskMetrics' former parent company JP Morgan are collectively are the majority shareholders.
