Rival denies Goldman's M&A clean sweep

Goldman Sachs has narrowly missed out on making a clean sweep of the global mergers and acquisitions league tables for the last decade after arch rival Morgan Stanley pushed it into second place this year.

Having topped the worldwide M&A rankings in every year from 2000 to 2008, Goldman Sachs has dropped to second place this year behind Morgan Stanley, meaning the US bank will miss out on finishing number for the first time in more than 10 years, according to Thomson Reuters.
