Rome prosecutors call in Bank of Italy's top regulator

Rome prosecutors have called in the top regulator at the Bank of Italy to question whether he abused his position in monitoring the takeover bids for the Italian financial institution Banca Antonveneta.

Francesco Frasca, head of the Italian central bank's supervisory arm, was called for questioning last week by Achille Toro, the deputy Rome magistrate, according to Italian daily La Repubblica citing documents filed by the investigators.
