Rothschild and Lazard bolster German operations

Rothschild and Lazard have become the latest investment banks to add senior names to their German operations, in an attempt to capture market share before mergers and acquisition (M&A) activity picks up.

Hans Meier-Scherling has joined Rothschild as managing director from Morgan Stanley, which he left six weeks ago, while Lazard has hired Michael Schmidt, also as managing director, from Merrill Lynch.
