Rothschild has further cemented its relationship with Tiscali by advising the company on its acquisition of the fixed line internet service provider and portal business of Planet-interkom, which is part of Germany's Viag Interkom.

Tomaso Barbini, a managing director at Rothschild in Milan, led the deal. He has a long-standing relationship with Tiscali and advised the Italian internet group on its initial public offering as well as being joint adviser on the World Online deal. He also worked for Tiscali on the €900m ($796m) purchase of LibertySurf. Rothschild acted as sole adviser on the deal.
