Rothschild lands first M&A deal for SAB

JP Morgan and Cazenove delay $200m equity offering

Rothschild has advised South African Breweries (SAB), the London and Johannesburg listed brewer, for the first time, on a $537m (€603m) Latin American acquisition.

SAB has paid Dole Food of Honduras $537m in cash for a 87% equity interest in Cerveceria Hondurena (CHSA), the sole brewer and largest soft drinks bottler in Honduras, which acts as Coca-Cola's brewer. The deal is Rothschild's first mergers and acquisitions advisory mandate for SAB, one of the world's largest brewers. This deal marks the first time that SAB has used external financial advisers for an acquisition.
