Rothschild has been tasked with finding new buyers for Deutsche Telekom's German cable assets in the wake of the German Cartel office's decision to block a sale to John Malone's Liberty Media Group.
Germany's debt-laden telecom operator said it regretted the decision of the Cartel office, Germany's competition authority. The company said in a statement: "Deutsche Telekom is open to new negotiations with interested parties. The programme of systematic debt reduction shall continue." Rothschild has been advising on the sale for over 18 months and Deutsche Telekom has been trying to sell the assets since 1999.
