Rwanda, the aid-dependent African nation that is working to bolster its economy, is planning a sovereign fund as part of a long-term plan to wean itself off global support, according to a local press report.
The country was devastated by genocide in 1994 and since then has been working to rebuild and increase it gross domestic product by focusing on poverty reduction, boosting tourism and improving infrastructure. It is now seeking to establish a donation-driven fund, The New Times Rwanda reported.
