S&P sells corporate consulting unit

Three private equity companies are backing a management buyout of ratings agency Standard & Poors' corporate value consulting unit, which is being merged with independent investment banking boutique Duff & Phelps.

Lovell Minnick Partners and Vestar Capital Partners, two US private equity firms, are providing financing for the management buyout. GE Capital will provide debt financing.
