Salaries near £5m for UK government’s Brexit planners

Department for Exiting the European Union has grown ‘significantly’ since the referendum in 2016

The wage bill for UK staff helping the government to steer the country through its withdrawal from the European Union has jumped by almost £1m to just under £5m.

Pay for those working in the UK government’s Department for Exiting the European Union rose from £4.1m to £4.9m between May and September, according to figures published on Thursday on DExEU’s website.
