Salomon chief takes 30% pay rise

Charles Prince, chief executive of Salomon Smith Barney (SSB) enjoyed a large pay rise in 2002, despite falling profits at Citigroup's corporate and investment banking unit.

Prince, who took over from Michael Carpenter as head of SSB last year, took a marginal cut in his cash bonus but his share and option awards ensured a pay rise of about 30%.
