Schroders, the UK fund manager, has hired Steven Johnson from Marathon Asset Management, the UK-based global equities specialist, to head the distribution arm of its expanding North American institutional business.

Johnson was with Marathon for three years as head of institutional business development and previously with fund manager Martin Currie in the US in the same role.
