SEB and FöreningsSparbanken cancel merger

Swedish financial institutions FöreningsSparbanken and SEB have pulled out of merger talks, dealing a blow to their financial advisers who have been working on the deal for more than seven months.

Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan were acting for SEB on the negotiations alongside the bank's own Enskilda Securities, while Merrill Lynch and Lenner & Partners had advised FöreningsSparbanken (known internationally as Swedbank).
