The Securities and Exchange Commission has named a finance professor and former SEC chief economist as its next director of market regulation.

Erik Sirri will relieve Robert Colby who is presently acting director. Colby will resume the position of deputy director of the division of market regulation when Sirri rejoins the SEC in mid-September.
