Merrill Lynch has lost the second of a pair of senior energy executives that used to run the bank's energy and power business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Chris Baxter is to join Renaissance Capital, the Russian investment bank, as head of investment banking.

Martin Falkner, his former colleague and co-head of the Merrill team, left in May.
