The chairman of investment banking for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Barclays has stepped down from the UK bank, less than six months after he was named among the list of attendees at the scandal-hit Presidents Club dinner in January.
Makram Azar, who joined Barclays in 2010, is to leave the bank to “pursue new business opportunities” and spend more time with his family, according to an internal memo seen by Financial News.
