SG, the corporate and investment banking arm of Société Générale, has created a joint financial sponsor coverage group to target private equity houses, combining its M&A advisory and debt financing capabilities.

Scott Phillips, managing director at SG will head the new team of five, drawn mostly from within SG. Phillips worked in SG's New York leveraged finance team from 1996 to 2000, covering US financial sponsors.
