The 2013 annual general meeting season has kicked off with shades of last year’s Shareholder Spring as activist investors launch a fresh pair of corporate governance campaigns in the US and France.

Shareholder advisory group Hermes Equity Ownership Services, which is owned by the BT Pension Scheme and advises investors with $161.2bn in assets, said on Friday that it had "serious concerns" about corporate governance at The Walt Disney Company.
