Shareholder groups blast new Fortis chief

Herman Verwilst, the new chief executive of Belgo-Dutch banking group Fortis, has come under fire from shareholder representatives barely two weeks since he was nominated to the job.

The Belgian shareholder adviser Deminor, and the consumer rights organisation Test-Achats, have penned an open letter to the Fortis board over comments made by Verwilst to the Dutch press.
