Shareholder pressure forces Tomkins break up

Conglomerate Tomkins looks likely to be broken up entirely in the wake of poor share price performance and shareholder criticism of Greg Hutchings' management style.

Pressure mounted last week following shareholder questions about the company's ownership of four jets leased to Chauffair (now sold), plus two London residences used by chief executive Hutchings. The question was asked by a JO Hambro Capital Management representative at the Tomkins annual meeting.
