Michael Sherwood, co-chief executive of Goldman Sachs International, has narrowly held on to his position as the most influential person in the European capital markets, according to a poll by Financial News.
Sherwood, 40, who was appointed alongside Scott Kapnick last year to run Goldman Sachs' European business, edged out Anshu Jain, 43, co-head of investment banking at Deutsche Bank, for the second year in a run-off vote of the five most influential people in European capital markets on Financial News Online. Sherwood attracted 27% of the votes, Jain 26%, and Bob Diamond, chief executive of Barclays Capital, was just behind with 24%.
