Shropshire pension fund turns to private equity

The £630m (€1bn) Shropshire County Council pension fund is investing in private equity for the first time and has also placed its emerging markets equities manager, Schroder Investment Management, under review.

The pension scheme of the UK local authority has tendered a £20m private equity fund of funds mandate. The assets come from a re-balancing of the fund that has resulted in diversification away from equities.
