A shift in the clearing of euro-denominated derivatives to New York after Brexit would leave all of Europe in a "very bad place", according to the UK's City Minister.

Speaking at a House of Lords EU Financial Affairs Sub-Committee hearing on October 19, Simon Kirby, the Economic Secretary to the Treasury, referred to the view that New York would be the main beneficiary in the event that clearing business leaves the UK following its split from the bloc.
