Soros found guilty of insider dealing

US billionaire George Soros has been found guilty of insider dealing and fined €2.2m ($2.3m) by a French court.

A Paris judge delivered the verdict on Friday following a trial that began in mid-November, according to Bloomberg, the news agency. The charges related to the 72-year-old Soros' dealings in shares of Société Générale in 1988 when French financier Georges Pébereau was planning to buy a large stake in the bank in a takeover attempt that ultimately failed.
