José María Loizaga, the founder of buyout firm Mercapital, passes away at 84

Spanish private equity pioneer José María Loizaga Viguri died at the age of 84 after falling victim to the coronavirus. The information was confirmed by construction company ACS, where he was vice president and board member.

ACS’s president, Florentino Pérez, said in a statement he "regrets with great dismay the death" of one of the pillars in the construction of the ACS Group.
