MiFID II has the investment management world holding its breath. Measures to bring transparency to research costs will mean significant change for many market players – not just in Europe, but across the world.

But while some commentators have been extremely negative, arguing research is going to suffer, there is perhaps an opportunity in the new rules. Transparent pricing can change the way research is compiled and presented for the better – leading to a drive to quality over quantity, and real benefits for end customer outcomes.
