Standard Chartered considering its domicile options

Bank mulls its options following shareholder queries on UK tax and regulation changes

Standard Chartered said on Friday that following continued queries from shareholders about how it will soften the impact of changes in UK taxes and regulation, it is considering its domicile options but currently has no plan to move its headquarters from Britain.

"We get asked often by shareholders whether we are going to move from the UK, as there is a worry that, as the tax and regulatory framework changes, being based here could become a competitive disadvantage for an international bank like Standard Chartered. So we do assess the options open to us, however we don't have any plans to move domicile," said spokesman Tim Baxter.
