Standard Life Investments has hired Neil McPherson as head of European business development as part of its intention to build a fund management business in Continental Europe.

McPherson joins from Citibank, where he worked for 23 years. Most recently, he was a managing director in the global retirement services group at Citigroup Asset Management.
