Standard Life Investments has moved swiftly to fill the departure of Will Hay, head of bonds and fixed income, who resigned earlier this week, and appointed Rod Paris, the former head of global fixed income at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM).

Paris will lead a team that has £21bn (€34.3bn) of fixed income investments including £16bn in the UK.
