Star equity manager to quit GAM at year's end

Paul Kirkby, star Japanese equity manager, is set to quit Global Asset Management (GAM) at the end the year.

Kirkby's departure will be a blow for the firm, which was recently taken over by UBS. He has produced strong performance for long-only Japanese funds over 13 years and recently started a GAM long/short Japanese hedge fund. GAM manages Japanese funds totalling $2.5bn (€2.8bn).
