State Street UK boss Cuan Coulter: How the demands of the job took a toll on my personal life

Cuan Coulter has risen up the ranks over his three decade career in finance to become UK head at mega-manager State Street. But it hasn't all be plain sailing. He tells Financial News how a tough travel schedule took its toll on his personal life, and how he finally built family time around his work.

Born, raised and educated in South Africa, I qualified as a chartered accountant. I was quickly put to work in large, complex financial institutions. I discovered asset management, and ultimately how I found myself in Boston, a global hub of the mutual fund industry in the late 1990s.
