Europe's top securities regulator has warned that a UK vote to leave the European Union would endanger the landmark project to bring the region's capital markets closer together to improve the financing of the real economy.

Steven Maijoor, chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority, said the success of the EU's planned Capital Markets Union needed the support of "all 28 national capital markets, and especially the biggest one".
