At Vodafone's annual general meeting today, shareholders registered a strong protest against the the board's decision to pay Chris Gent, its chief executive a £10m (€16.2m) bonus.

On the key resolution to approve the company's remuneration policy, nearly 30% of the shareholders either voted against or abstained.
