Surplus capital overhang is overstated

The size of surplus capital committed, but not yet invested, in European private equity has been greatly exaggerated, say investors.

While private equity is reckoned to be top heavy with capital, increasing the pressure on firms to invest and thus drive up prices, analysis by SVG Capital, a fund of funds private equity investor, suggests that the industry could face a capital shortfall.
