Swathes of London’s commuter belt moved into Tier 3 as government tightens restrictions

Home Counties is the main area to be moved into the highest alert level from 19 December

Large parts of the South-east of England, a popular region for commuters into the City, will enter the highest level of coronavirus restrictions on 19 December.

Health secretary Matt Hancock announced that almost all of the English regions currently in Tier 3 will remain at that level, while a wider area of the East and South-east of England would move up to the toughest level of measures.
