Swiss banks catch up as UBS market share dips

Julius Baer and Bank Vontobel, Switzerland's two largest quoted private banks, increased funds under management by about a third in 1999 as evidence mounts that UBS, the world's biggest private bank, is continuing to lose market share to smaller amd more aggressive Swiss competitors, reports the Financial Times.

Private banking is the jewel in the crown of UBS, which merged with Swiss Bank Corporation 18 months ago.
