Swiss public and private pension fund median returns for 2001 were -7.1%, according to a survey by Watson Wyatt Worldwide, the investment consultant, and Swiss pension fund association ASIP.

The research is based on data from over 60 pension funds with assets totalling around Sfr80bn (€54.7bn). According to the research, in 1999 and 2000 the average Swiss pension plan earned a median return of 11.5% and 1.5%, respectively.
