Talking Point: UK's unions should bow to inevitable over pensions

After years in the doldrums the UK's trade union movement has found its teeth again.

Unions, which have 6.8 million members out of a working population of 29 million, have become the last line of defence against the closure of final salary pension schemes. These are being shut down in favour of defined contribution plans, where members shoulder all the risk.
