Telecom Italia shakes up advisers as predators circle

Telecom Italia has shaken up its advisory line-up, calling in Merrill Lynch and Société Générale after two Italian banks admitted to holding talks over buying a significant stake in the Italian telecoms company.

The group said in a statement it had brought in the two investment banks to "evaluate the various strategic options in the interests of the company and all its shareholders".
