UK-based buy-out firm Terra Firma could win the battle for Tank & Rast, the German motorway service station operator, for €1.1bn ($1.4bn) as soon as tonight, according to Reuters, the news agency.

Terra Firma has already seen off a putative bid from Heiner Kamps, whose bakery firm was acquired by pasta maker Barilla in a hostile takeover two years ago.
