Using your phone while crossing the street may seem like a part of everyday life, but the body that governs the City of London has begun scrutinising such behaviour as part of a crackdown on road safety.
The City of London Corporation plans to use cameras at Ludgate Circus, a junction notorious for traffic accidents, to gather data on the causes of pedestrian inattention. It will include analysis of how many pedestrians use their phones while crossing the road, the corporation confirmed in a meeting in late November.
